Jeremy Paxman will throw down the gauntlet to thousands of men planning to take part in the popular 'Movember' campaign next month, after a recent dry run proved categorically that the TV presenter can grow a thick, rich and dense moustache 'in a matter of hours'.
Movember, which challenges men to grow a moustache during the 30-days of November, to raise awareness of mens health, has become an annual tradition across the country, with many men using the campaign as an opportunity to test their growing powers against family and friends alike.
Paxman, who explained that he's joining the campaign to raise public awareness of his superiority, claims his facial hair growth is 'so rapid', that the popular television programme Newsnight had to cut its running-time from one-hour to fifty minutes, just so he could retire to a dressing room for an 'emergency shave'.
'Have you ever seen the film Castaway?' Asked Paxman stroking his chin, 'just think Tom Hanks after two years on that remote island and then times it by about three; that's the sort of standard I'm dealing with after about three days. Come December, most "men" will be dusting off their electric razors. I'll be calling a landscape gardener'.
Announcing that he will be giving 'Daily Mo Updates' via his Twitter account, Paxman expects to 'win' Movember by the 15th, 'at the very latest'. 'By day four I'm already at the stage where I'm clearing a path for incoming food', added Paxman. 'By day seven I'm already in dreadlock territory. Some men carry a gun for protection, I carry a Gillette Mach Three. Things are about to get hairy'.
