Brian Leslie (39) has added the spectacular comeback of the American Oracle Sailing Team in the Americas Cup to his list of unforgettable moments in sport. The 1-8 reverse to a 9-8 victory also joins his list of scoring systems he does not understand; team members whose name he does not know; and sports he will never try despite promised to 'on the weekend'.
"Oh man, it was unbelievable! It was the comeback of a lifetime, I've never seen anything like it." exclaimed Mr Leslie unaware that he had applied this label to at least 15 sporting events in the past 2 years. He continued, "I mean I just can't remember feeling so excited and inspired about sport for such a long time!" However, records show that Mr Leslie was both 'excited' and 'inspired' by Europe's Ryder Cup victory, England's recent Ashes win, Andy Murray's Wimbledon AND US Open wins and Littlehampton FC's (Under 12) comeback from 2-0 down to win 7-2 last Sunday.
Friends of Mr Leslie have commented that he is both easily excited and has a terrible memory as he had declared a old man's laboured sprint for a bus as 'one of the greatest sporting achievements he had ever witnessed' just that very morning. They comment that the next excited exclamation may lead to Hyperbole Intervention.
