A campaign urging everyone in the UK to learn at least 1,000 words of another language has hit a snag.
'We are losing out on international trade and jobs because of our poor language skills,' Vicky Gough of the British Council said.
But many people said they didn't think the campaign would succeed.
'I can't see many Brits struggling to learn 1,000 funny words,' said shop assistant Beth Wilson. 'I mean, that's more than 500 isn't it? It won't work, whatever Vicky...whatever her name is, says.'
