Councillor Fester Dubbin, mayor of the Dorset town of Shufflebury, has proudly unveiled a new commemorative traffic bollard in the middle of a footpath across the grounds of a local ancient burial ground.
"We have memorials for all the men and women who died whilst serving in our Army, Navy and Air force" he said "But we do not even have any record of the Daleks who perished, let alone a monument to mark their noble sacrifice."
"I am proud to have been instrumental in the comissioning, design, making and installation of this noble new structure, which will remain a glorious and permanent testament to the sacrifice of Daleks and to my tireless efforts to commemorate them."
"Furthermore, such a significant monument deserves to be placed in an appropriately prominent location, and where better than alongside the exisitng moument commemorating the men and women who sacrificed their lives?"
"It is a matter of deep regret that because there are no records of the names of these Daleks, we have been unable to name any of them on the monument, but our children and our children's children - countless future generations in fact - will at least know that someone (paricularly, me, Councillor Fester Dubbin) had the inspiration, devotion, dedication and persistence to ensure that this glorious monument was erected."
Supporters of Councillor Fester Dubbin have expressed concern however that in some quarters, allegedly, the monument has been described as 'gratuitous and vainglorious' and there have been calls it to be exterminated. No Daleks were available for comment.
