Hot on the heels of their 2013 hits 'Your Face Sounds Familiar', 'Celebrity Splash', 'Big Star Little Star' and 'Even More You've Been Framed', ITV Chief Executive Farhad Omar has revealed what he promises is a "tantalizing preview" of what the channel has planned for 2014.
"A lot of people say that the shows ITV is putting out these days are derivative and patronizing, often just a different take on an already existing show. We've also been accused to relying too much on phone-ins. A lot of people might take those statements as criticism, but given that is what we were going for I think we're doing a good job" Omar stated. "I know that I and everyone else at ITV are proud to bring you even more tosh in 2014, which we will of course be trying to squeeze in around football"
Omar then treated this reporter to a sneak preview of these upcoming productions, which you can all look forward to starting from the New Year:
Star's Best Friend - Each week a celebrity will bring their beloved pets to the studio and Keith Lemon will test just how much the star knows about it and win money (of which at least 10% will go to charity).
Coronation Street Uncovered - After each episode of Coronation Street finishes, join Sharon Marshall as she goes behind-the-scenes to find out what goes into the making of each episode. The first edition will feature Michelle Collins who will teach the viewer exactly how to put on that terrible Northern accent.
On Target - In this show (which will fill the six-week gap between 'I'm a Celebrity' and 'Dancing on Ice') Celebrities attempt to master the difficult sport of archery in order to survive a phone-in vote. Stars already confirmed to take part include Richard Blackwood, Heather Mills and Paul Gasgoine (assuming he can stay off the alcohol long enough of course). Presented by Stephen Mulhern.
Celebrity SuperCook - Details are still being worked out regarding this. An insider at ITV later stated "It'll be almost exactly like Celebrity Masterchef, but maybe set outside".
Daddy's Little Secret - After the success of 'Vicious', viewers will be treated to this wacky sitcom where Sir Patrick Stewart plays a masochist who is forced to try and keep his secret from his son, who moves in with his father after a messy divorce.
The White Cliffs - Caroline Quentin gets another paid holiday in this travelogue where she visits Dover. Viewers will be struck by the breath-taking scenery as Caroline pretends to be interested in the most mundane things as usual.
All Star Bullseye - Revival of the classic 80s darts-based gameshow, but now with teams of celebrities who will try and win amazing prices that they could probably easily afford anyway. With Eamonn Holmes hosting, you'll learn you truly can't beat a bit of Bully.
Super Duper You've Been Framed - Just like You've Been Framed, but now with even zanier clips which include comedy sound effects to increase the hilarty.
Omar finished by stating this is only a small sample of what's coming, and promised that there's even more quality in the pipe-line. "We're working on more phone-in... I mean, quality shows as we speak" he told us with a glint in his eye.
