High Street retailer Primark has launched its new clothing line inspired by what Mrs Dowding, 78, of Banbury, wore yesterday.
The range features polyester cardigans, flowery skirts, spotty tops and super-thick tights.
Speaking at the photoshoot at a pop-up Marks and Spencer cafe, designer Sophie Heligan said: “It’s just so now. We’ve done the retro-inspiration thing inspired by the eighties and nineties – what young people want now is yesterday”.
Guest of honour, Mrs Dowding, said: “I’m flattered they noticed what I was wearing yesterday. The tea stains on the cardigan are an inspired touch”.
The launch builds on the success of last year’s “Eau de Mr Morris” menswear, which featured novelty bicycle clips, pre-dirtied cagoules and luxury-look torn rucksacks.
