In a shock revelation the chief medical officer, Dame Sally Davies, has confessed to reading the Daily Mail in her youth. "I was on a long train journey and there was a copy just lying on the seat beside me, I picked it up to check the weather then saw the 'cigarettes cure cancer' story on the front page and read the first few paragraphs - I didn't enjoy it and it made me feel sick."
