It really does depend on which translation you have. There are essays discussing the correct translation of the title alone. Lost time or times past ie lost in time. Discuss.

Having read this in full I still think, which I think is an achievement.
I read all seven volumes of À la recherche du temps perdu (while I was studying at the Sorbonne, as it happens) but I couldn't get through this steaming pile of fanny batter.
