Texas has been forced to halt further executions after the discovery that stocks of lethal drug pentobarbital are past their Use By Date. New stocks of the drug have proved difficult to come by as namby-pamby European manufacturers have boycotted the sale in case it was used for anything nefarious.
The US version of the Health & Safety Executive has stated 'the last thing we want is to administer a drug to prisoners which might make them ill. The potential damages would be enormous'.
