The BBC issued a statement today denying that their earlier story denying that the latest Dr Who’s assistant is just ‘too sexy’ was just a shallow attempt at publicity.
The statement read,
“The BBC Marketing department is concerned that its previous story along the lines of ‘Is Amy Pond the sexiest Dr Who assistant ever?’ accompanied my a multitude of photos of Miss Gillan in revealing clothes and suggestive poses may have inadvertently misled the viewer into thinking that Amy Pond is the sexiest Dr Who assistant ever.
As a consequence, some viewers may have tuned into to watch our flagship show, on the understanding that they may be treated to a glimpse of her pert breasts or maybe a fleeting upskirt flash. This was clearly not our intention.
Amy is not a schoolgirl, she’s 21 and she pretty much wears the sorts of tight-fitting clothes and miniskirts that any girl on the street is wearing.
She is a modern girl with a strong will, not some sucker or youth to be written off.
The BBC believes its programme making to be of the highest quality and would hate to think that its viewing figures were anyway skewed by hot blooded males tuning in under false pretences.”
Dr Who : The Pudendum Opens (Part 1) - BBC1 Saturday 6:40pm.
