30 NASA tecnicians have again failed to successfully launch a vehicle on a run to the "butty van" due to adverse wind conditions. They hope to try again later in the day, but time is now running short. The team have been without food or water since tea time yesterday.
Their specially constructed $700m vehicle, which has been beset with problems since it was first launched has twice been successfully launched, but malfunctioned and failed to "dock" at the local sandwich shop, only to return without successfully completing its mission.
Emergency modifications have been carried out, including fitting a door, plus several other top secret enhancements, however, a breeze has started blowing in from the West which has resulted in a number of aborted launches.
Concerned family members are gathering outside the NASA complex where a feeling of total helplessness fills the air. "Those boys in there are heroes", said one frantic relative, "we've got to get them out".
President Obama has vowed "to do whatever it takes" to avert another NASA tragedy.
