Scientists have revealed that around 74% of the population still believe it when someone says they didn't receive an email because it went into their spam folder.
The new study published today revealed that even the most cynical of Brit is willing to believe that their email has been mistakenly hidden by a choosey computer rather than the accept the fact that their intended recipient has ignored them.
Lead scientist on the study, Professor Lars Von Clarkson from the University of Leeds said:
"Because it may have actually happened once or twice people are very willing to believe it's a common problem. It's much easier than dealing with reality and we never know when we might need to break out a spam folder lie ourselves."
