Having had his asylum requests rejected by 194 countries, Edward Snowden has asked President Obama if he will let him seek political asylum in the USA, citing the fact that he is being persecuted by a country determined to jail him for telling the truth.
Announcing Snowden's request today, President Obama said: 'We are considering his request very seriously. It is intolerable in these days that an individual can be ruthlessly pursued by his country's security forces and threatened with prison just because he has dared to stand up for the truth. That's not how we do things here in the USA! We defend to the death the right of every individual American to - hold on a second...'
