After watching the British Grand Prix yesterday, Albert Scoggins, 73, from Shanklin IoW is having second thoughts about the full set of Pirelli P6000 tyres he has just had fitted to his 1974 Morris Marina.
"I've always been concerned about road safety so I always fit the very best tyres I can afford, but after watching yesterday's race at Silverstone, I now realise that Pirelli have been pulling the wool over their customer's eyes. Their claims that their tyres are good for 45,000 miles are looking a bit hollow now when I can't even be certain about getting to the shops and back."
"I guess the sensible option would be to ditch the Pirellis", said Mr Scoggins, "However, having just spent out on four new tyres, I'm now thinking that maybe pit garages could be set up at Newport, Cowes, and Freshwater, so that I can put on a new set every few miles."
His wife, Mrs Hilda Scoggins, 69, pointed out that, "perhaps avoiding the kerbs would reduce the risk of damaging the tyres - however that nice Mr Raikkonen seems to run over the kerbs all the time so I don't see why my Bert should need to change his driving habits."
