"Poking the mentals on BBC's Have Your Say"
For example, read this nonsense from Monmouthshire:
I've had a couple of posts blocked so far, but I've not been banned. Yet.
It's good fun !
The NewsBiscuit Community
Looked for a Sinnick but couldn't find one. Do you use a different moniker?
I discovered I had registered a while back so dropped a little comment in. (#569)Reading it back though it makes too much sense. I should have written: "If you have a problem because you fill 8 bin bags with shitty nappies, why not try keeping your f***ing legs together next time."
I assume the game is to say something inflamatory and watch the fireworks? (You can rate your own comment too! Such fun)
Oooo....this could be a great game. BJ - where's the invective in your comment? I thought it was perfectly reasonable. What I want to know is why people don't just put disposable nappies in plastic bags, go outside and hang them from a tree - just like dog shit bags?
I think you made an important point very clearly, BJ, and it well deserved to be an Editor's Pick.
BJ, I used a different alias: "Thinks" (no.140). Compared this nonsense with more serious protests in places like Turkey, Syria & Brazil. Got a few "likes", but not as many as you did.
Got vetoed once for doing a joke, but you got away with it. Very inconvenient.
Mandy, go for it - it's still open ! The worst that could happen is that people actually try it in Monmouthshire, as a dirty protest !
'In Syria, 10,000's of people are dead because of a morally corrupt government, in Turkey parks are being destroyed by the government, in Brazil people can't afford to travel to work.
In Monmouthshire, people are too lazy to take excess bags to the tip themselves'
Sinnick, I was expecting a triple crescendo of worldwide tragedy to build before the denoument of the comparison to inconvenient refuse collection arrangements in Monmouthshire.
Just wondering if you reviewed the order of your 'big three' at all...or perhaps were a little pushed for national disasters...'cos the 'destruction of parks' in Turkey seems a tiny bit of a damp squib tucked in there, and the Brazil one isn't exactly top dollar next to thousands dead in Syria either. In fact, I can imagine the Turkish community centre meeting of the Save Our Park Action Group where someone stands up and says 'Lets have a bit of rationality here guys, there's people in the Welsh Borders knee-deep in bin bags at their local green field sites!'
No, I didn't consider the order - I should have added a little more drama. However, I don't think most of the scribers there would have understood it. They're more interested in whether Oxford is better than Monmouthshire or whether people with large families should be sterilised.
I'll try to attract more attention next time.
Today's BBC article on Poundland withdrawing Chines Lanterns:
"This is potentially racist banning these lanterns. The EU should step in." by E.Doyle at No.5
Is this one of you guys, or can we do better ?
Thanks for pointing it out Sin. I hadn't noticed the ed's pick or the likes. Must try and be more imflamatory. Is the aim of the game to get the most minuses without being banned?
My comment on Murray is currently being reviewed!
My objective is to annoy stupid people, not intelligent folk. Need to choose the article carefully.
Getting a few "+" isn't too difficult, but I think the best value is to get a huge "-".
Talking of objectivity, what's the point of annoying stupid people? The most you can achieve is to whip them up into a lather and get them to use their voting rights. And if you do that, imagine what might happen at the next general election.
I for one am now considering voting Lib-Dem because the well-mannered Mr Clegg says you shouldn't use your mobile phone while being served by a checkout clerk, whereas previously I'd always voted either for the understanding Mr Balfour or the peace-making Mr Chamberlain. See what I mean?
"Hospital inspections to be tougher"
I couldn't resist challenging theBBC reporter's imprecise grammar - see 189, "Innocent":
"Is it the inspection of the hospital, or the inspection of the patient, that's to be tougher. It's ambiguous and we need to know."
@Sin: is it racist to set fire to Chinese lanterns?
I've got ten of them incarcerated in the dark without food or water. The only reason I haven't floated them off St Catherine's hill in the dark is becuase the whole of the south of England is tinder dry. Gloriously but inconveniently.
Just dropped a few comments in on the Church vs Wonga story mainly saying READ THE F*CKING STORY!.
About 90% of the comments are from people who think the church are planning to lend money. FFS! Why do these morons comment when they evidently haven't read the f*cking story?
Mind you it's not until paragraph 14 that some one actually states "... the Church would not run the companies (credit unions) but would help them and allow them to work on its premises". I doubt most of the commentators would have bothered to read that far and it does rather ruin what the Beeb have tried to work up into a more interesting story.
