The spider, which canot be named for legal reasons, denied threatening Miss Muffet in any way. "I did not attack her, touch her, threaten her or even speak to her" claimed the spider. "I merely sat down beside her."
Barrister Arthur Opod speaking for the Spider Rights Campaign said "Our members are frequently the victims of false accusations of this kind. It usually transpires that the alleged victim hasn't got a leg to stand on, or at least, nowhere near as many as our members."
"The tuffet where Miss Muffet was siting was a public tuffet, and our members have as much right as anyone elese to sit there, whether is is beside someone else or by themselves."
