What's wrong with standing up to drink Watney's at £3.50 a pint in front of half a dozen 52-inch flat-screen TV monitors with the volume turned up full?
Are you some kind of snob?
Do they still make Watney's?
£3.50 a pint sounds cheap. Are we talking Weatherspoons?
Last time I saw Watney's it was 1/11d. I applied inflation at the government's official rate.
Admittedly, I'm not an expert on these things. I'm a three-star brandy in the saloon bar type myself.
I remember beer when it was 30p a pint.
And it was about £1 to get into a football game.
Hang on: if you bought a Watney's Party 7, you could get economies of scale
Do pubs have Saloon bars any more?
I don't know, to be honest. The 16th century pub near here was knocked into one huge room some years ago, and re-equipped with a truckload of TV screens and loudspeakers. Most of the customers stand outside huddled in the yard, where they can smoke.
I've not seen a bottle and jug for ages, either.
