ITV have today been censured by Ofcom following a TV programme which featured a string of expletives from Prince Charles. It was during a walkabout at the Chelsea Flower Show when the Prince was heard to utter the obscenities. His Royal Highness was introduced to a display of garden gnomes when he said that they were "Ruddy Marvelous". This was followed shortly afterwards near the marigolds, when the Prince looked directly into the camera, and with a faux cockney chuckle, said that they looked "Bloomin' lovely".
Ofcom were inundated with two complaints, both from Mrs Barbara Goodwillie of Guildford, who expressed her disgust at the 5 and 7 letter outbursts. She was incensed at the foul language, and the fact that her branch of the WI had not received their usual free tickets to the opening day of the annual flower show.
The Palace later issued an apology that was accepted by Ofcom. An Ofcom spokesman said that "Although we feel that the Prince of Wales did not intend to cause offence, a cunt in his position should know better".
