Police today broke up an illegal operation thought to be responsible for turning out tens of thousands of fake 'baby on board' badges onto London's streets over the past two years. With seating on London's trains and buses at a premium, a single badge is thought to have a street value of at least £5.
Action was taken after estimated 4000% rise in pregnant travellers triggered transport bosses' suspicions. Police have issued warnings to a growing number of passengers in recent months for illicit badge usage including a 26 year old man, his dog and a nun.
A Transport for London spokesperson said "we take the issue of seat misuse extremely seriously and take action to prevent it. Seating priority should always be given to Londoners less able, or too drunk, to stand"
