A man who was doing something decided to stop doing it, in favour of doing something else.
“I just lost interest,” said Bryn Smythe (37) from Hull. “I don’t know why. Suddenly the task I had set myself seemed dull if not futile, so I decided to stop. Then, after a minute or so’s total inaction I said to myself ‘Bryn: this won’t do. Idleness is not in your nature. Do something else.' So I did. And do you know what? I'm glad I did!"
Mr Smythe hasn’t divulged what the substitute activity was, emphasising only that it was different to the first task. “Variety is the spice of life,” he said, “and I recommend everyone stuck in a rut to do what I did – something else.”
