The nation’s comedians today held their hands up, stating it was impossible to satirize Liverpool football club because whatever crazy thing you come off, one of their players is bound to actually do.
Humourist Michael Deery said, ‘Last year, after the whole racism thing, I wrote a blog about a Liverpool manger defending his player for biting an opponent in a fit of rage. In it he claims it’s just what they do in their home country, complaining that he was victimized by the length of the ban and bringing up an unrelated transgression by a Manchester United player. And you know what? I’m pretty sure they just did a copy and paste job of that blog when they released their statement on Luis Suarez.’
‘Today, I sat down to right one about Brendon Rodger’s defending his player after he committed genocide but the I thought, if I write it, it will happen, I will partially be responsible for an entire race of mankind being wiped. So I just shut down the laptop and cried.’
