It has become known in the past few hours that, to help reduce Carbon Dioxide emissions, the UK and US government will be requiring all citizens to bring their cars to a local 'drop-off' centre, where they will be left for collecting. Citizens will then be forced to use public transport, which will help reduce emissions due to fewer vehicles on the road.
However, it has become apparent in the last few minutes that the governments have an ulterior motive for collecting all these cars. "They are going to reuse the metals in these cars to produce galactic spacecraft" swears a high-ranking governmental official. "Ever since all the recent global worries of nuclear war, the US and UK thought that it would be a good idea to explore our universe for other possible planets that could house the human civilisation."
The US has pushed away reports that point back to its apparent dislike for building galactic spacecraft.(see here.) "We now believe that, as it is possible to create large spaceships capable of transporting the human race without adding to the deficit, via the use of cars, that this should be attempted. And it is common sense to equip said spacecraft with laser cannons to defend our beloved citizens from space-bourne attacks."
Some people, however, do not agree with these views. "I do not see how creating spacecraft that require colossal amounts of energy, energy that will doubtlessly come from fossil fuels, is going to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions", says one concerned scientist. "And at the end of the day, surely we are not about to go to war?"
