After a long silence tarmac gang leader, Yosser Mourinho, has been spotted doing what he does best - job-hunting.
Yosser was recently spied taking a sneaky look at the pot-holed surface of a car park at a struggling London sports club. And amidst rumours of an imminent comeback, it's now believed the workaholic Scouser is interested in a contract to re-lay the entire 5 acre Fulham Road site - before it's refurbished and turned into a football club.
Wealthy owner of the property, Roman Abramovich, hired Yosser a few years back to carry out similar repair work on a 'rolling' deal. On that occasion the old “Bridge” as they call it, was given quite an expensive facelift by Yosser's gang. After which, for a very short while, things began to look really impressive and even quite promising.
Then it all went tits up. And after a sudden Scouse punch-up that typically sprang out of nothing and nowhere, Yosser ended up getting a black eye - and the sack. “Maybe I was a bit hasty back then,” said Abramovich yesterday. “Maybe Yosser wasn't entirely to blame. Maybe him and me can have another go at getting things right.”
Yosser Mourinho, who nowadays calls himself 'The Chosen One', has been off the UK tarmac scene for the past few years, bringing up the kids and scratching out a living in the Madrid building boom. But following the collapse of the Spanish economy, his return to these shores has long been expected.
“I bumped into our Yosser only the other week at Old Trafford,” said Manchester builder Alex 'Gummy' Ferguson. And d'you know, the first thing he said after giving me a great big bear hug was, “Gissa job”. He's a good lad is Yosser, there's no doubt about that. What I'd call a real grafter. There's nowt for him back in Liverpool, that's for sure. But someone's bound to give him a break sooner or later.”
