The BBC have today announced that they have started re-making their landmark series “In At The Deep End”. Each programs in the series focuses on one individual who is trying a job for which they have no skills, qualifications or training.
The series Producer explained how fortunate they were in the first program if the series in finding somebody who in addition to having no real training, also had no appreciation for the challenges involved. “We managed to find George who had always wanted to be Chancellor of the Exchequer. He seemed ideal, no experience, no qualifications, no aptitude; a complete beginner in all respects. Filming started early 2010 and after a few weeks we became aware of the disaster unfolding before our cameras. We made a policy decision not to step-in as in previous series. And the results are hilarious. Filming is scheduled to continue until 2015 but we suspect the disaster might force things to an earlier conclusion.”
