The Department of Health has warned that lives may be at risk due to the large number of people failing to repost medical information posted on Facebook by friends.
"Not enough people are pressing the 'Like button' on these amazing medical discoveres that 'big pharma' are doing their best to surpress.", the Health Minister said today at a packed press conference. "If you don't share these stories, millions could die."
He went on to cite recent examples of alternative medical stories that are saving lives today due to the power of Facebook's viral marketing - such as the new cure for cancer using baking soda and rat's urine, and the important warning that whooping cough can be spread by badgers.
Facebook, and to a lesser extent Twitter, have become vital to this government's campaign to ensure everyone is kept up to date with the latest in medical news, however ministers are still keen for the Daily Mail and Daily Express to continue their outstanding work in promoting these items.
