I can't help wondering about the 'showed no emotion as sentence was passed' cliche that journalists always seem to use in these cases.
What kind of emotional display would be appropriate? Glee? Mild depression?

Lying on your back, like a goal-scorer, hoping everyone in the room will dive on top of you...

I'd go with upset. I think I'd probably be quite upset if I was sentenced for murder.
Plus I'm shit at looking emotionless, I always end up giggling.

Outraged, if it were an MP, that the court had clearly got it wrong and had failed to accept his word for it that he was completley innocent of all charges.

The most I've heard from the dock was a sarcastic "Thanks very much."
Much more reaction from the 'public gallery' though. Especially when there's a 'gang'/'turf' issue when it can resemble a bad day for England RFU at the Millennium Stadium
