The island of Cyprus was disappeared last night in what European Union sources have described as "reasonable and proportionate action to get the Euro crisis under control."
Cyprus, to be known henceforth as the lost island of Cyprus, is thought to have been overcome by an unusually heavy rain shower during which an estimated 75 years worth of rain fell to ground in under 20 minutes.
Stylianos Papacides, thought to be the sole survivor, has spoken of his surprise telling reporters "this was the last thing we expected to happen."
A spokesperson for the European Commission said "There are 16 members of the Eurozone.........THERE WERE ALWAYS 16 MEMBERS OF THE EUROZONE"
