Speaking from the point of view of one of the bad writers on here, there is a conflict between a high quality parody site and the freedom to allow anyone to sub and learn.
I have submitted my fair share of rubbish things, but I have learned over the time on here how to consider and idea and polish it up before submitting it. Also, the idea of not posting something for a couple of days and seeing if you really think it has some humour, has helped.
However, it is a balance, I am sure the better writers get disillusioned by the amount of no so good entries when a popular subject comes up. Savile, Horsemeat, Popes etc.
I enjoy and appreciate the opportunity to learn on here and I have managed to get to the point where my polished subs are probably rubbish rather than shit which is an achievement.
I would hate the site to lose the really talented writers, many of whom seem to have gone quiet in the past week, although some f them talking on this thread is encouraging.
Ideally, there would be a forum for beginner writers to play and have stuff reviewed and commented on. The better writers could keep subbing in the main writers room. Of course, that would need some decision about who could post where and I suspect that would ruffle enough feathers that we would have bald birds for a year.
