Pope Francis in his first of a series of candid interviews with the press let it be known that as a child growing up in the slums of Buenos Aires, his favourite pastime was dressing up as Batman. “I suppose if one were to analyse my spiritual development, I have always loved putting on a cape, waving my hands in the air and saving the world from evil doers” explained the new Pope. He then explained that he is excited about having the opportunity of swinging around a chalice with burning incense as it “reminds me of that episode in Series 3 when Batman smoked the Riddler out of his lair”. In this unusual revelation he then went further to explain that he had already submitted detailed plans to turn his residence in the Vatican into an exact replica of the Bat Cave and to have metallic rear wings fitted to the Pope-mobile. “In these difficult times I think it is increasingly important to appeal to a wider and younger audience and therefore to invoke the spirit of Bruce Wayne is something very close to my heart” he explained. At the end of the interview the Pope was seen to get up, adjust his cape and whisper to his accomplice “Right back to the Vat Cave”.
