I am absolutely baffled by homophobia, and yet something about the BBC story where the gay pub crawl group were refused drinks by some twat made me howl:

James Asser, a member of the group, said: "Everyone involved was shocked and outraged. This attitude is totally unacceptable in this day and age."

Can you spot the source of my mirth...?

I just chortled at this. When Mr B peered at me over the top of his car~~porn~~mag enquiringly, I explained what I was chuckling at, only to have to explain the cause of my mirth. Not once, but three times.

I'm sure there'll be a probing enquiry to uncover why they were refused service.

Roger Boyes, the veteran Times correspondent, always makes me laugh - especially when he's sent to cover abuse stories. What on earth were his parents thinking of?

There was a link on here a while back to a Roger Boyes story on abuse.

I must admit that it was liberally sprinkled around my email contacts. Although, I did ensure that it was sent only to those who would "get it" rather than those who would read the article in full then tut disgustedly.

James is lucky his parent didn't call him Randy, although it would have removed the need for a lot of early chit-chat when he was out on the pull.

Jeni - I also sent it round my email contacts. Quite a few tutted disgustedly and even when I pointed out the funny bit, I was told (crossly) that abuse is not a subject to joke about.

But I still laughed my socks off.

BTW, Ellery Queen's son is called Randy. My uncle met him a a church picnic in St Louis. And he was.
