In a major re-think on the taxation system the Prime Minister, David Cameron, announced today that the 50% tax rate was to be re-introduced by the government, but this time, for those earning less than £10,000 per annum. “If you think about it,” said Old Etonian Cameron, “it’s not daft. Under our current system, the more you earn the higher the rate of tax you pay. What kind of an incentive is that?”
“Its the people at the bottom of the earnings ladder,” continued multi-millionaire Mr Cameron, “who contribute least to the economy, make no donations to the Conservative party and yet still take the most out in welfare payments. How unfair is that?” he asked “We want these people to earn more so they can contribute more and learn to stand on their own two feet, if they have them.”
Asked what Clegg thought of these proposals, Cameron, son-in-law of Viscount Astor, said that “he did not know, as he had not watched any episodes of Last of the Summer Wine recently. However,” he added “I expect this vote-winning strategy to be a real blow for the opposition. It’ll knock Boris into a cocked hat that’s for sure.”
