U.S. President Barack Obama is to fight leading House Republican John Boehner in "an epic lightsaber duel," to resolve the ongoing budget impasse once and for all, a White House spokesman has confirmed.
The move follows Mr. Obama's attempted use of the Jedi Mind Meld to force Republicans to back his plans, which was thwarted after the technique was proven not to exist.
"Unnecessary and Inexcusable cuts - these policies are strong with the Dark Side of the Force," White House spokesman Jay Carney said.
Mr. Boehner accepted the President's offer of a duel, but said Mr. Carney's use of Star Wars terminology to describe economic events as "childish." He then stated that Mr. Obama would make a tough opponent, because "if I strike him down, he will become more powerful than we can possibly imagine."
