The DA14 deep space probe has sent back pictures from the latest planet on its journey through the universe. The spacecraft passed within a few thousand miles of a planet called Earth, which, situated as it is, some 93 million miles from a yellow dwarf star, would appear to have the ideal climate for the evolution of life through natural selection, starting from water, carbon-dioxide and nitrogen, with a few bolts of lightning (full recipe Page 47).
Scientists at the Alpha Centauri University were said to be very disappointed however. “This planet has everything going for it,” said a Professor Al Ien “but from the pictures we have seen, it seems clear that nothing intelligent is living there.”
