'Fat cat' food bank organiser the Rev Brian Smith (86) is being urged to give up a case of Co-op baked beans it's alleged he received as a bonus for his help in running his local food bank.
'It's not right,' said parishioner Wendy Wood who attends the Rev Smith's church. 'OK, he helps out on Saturday morning, but why should he get a fat bonus? I'm quite partial to the Co-op's beans myself.'
But the Rev Smith said the beans were past their use-by date and 'badly dented'.
'Our customers wouldn't touch them,' he said.
A year ago Rev Smith was mired in controversy when he left another food bank with an alleged golden handshake of twelve damaged cans of spaghetti rings in rich tomato sauce.
