This landed in our garden this afternoon. It's left a circular mark on one of the garden stone slabs, and it was still warm to the touch when my daughter brought it inside.
It's quite heavy: 140 grams, and 4cm across. Magnets don't stick to it. Anyone have any idea what it might be??

Looks interesting on the face of it. If you are absolutely sure it's not a lump of bitumen pinged off of a lorry, you should send the photo and description of how you found it (a photo of the damage to the stone slab would be useful) to the following person:
If it is a real one, the type you have is incredibly rare.

Are you certain it's not a discarded bit of tin-foil from an airplane meal. It's the bits of peas that give it away. Looks like it's started to melt as it's fallen from the 'plane.

Cheers Al! I've emailed them. The patio is shielded by two fences and the garage, so it had to come from above. Weird. It's the fact it was warm that really convinced me it's from the sky.
Peculiarly, it seems shinier now than a few hours ago. I'd have expected it to have oxidised?

If it's mainly carbon based on the outside, it would have done all its oxidizing as it came through the atmosphere (like soot). What is really intriguing are the green inclusions - evidence of chondrules, the oldest rocks in the solar system from a moon of Mars, or someone has melted a Mars Bar at high temperature over a large piece of green aquarium gravel and lobbed into your garden for a laugh. But don't forget, even if it is the latter, the elements in it were formed in the heart of a star.

Ooh, blimey! On the bottom, there's a really strange 'cross-hatching', like two lots of sedimentary layers forced into each other at right-angles. Some of the green marks are tiny pin-pricks that seem to be completely spherical. Never knew rocks could be so interesting!

There are 2 option of what it could be.
1) A bit of rock that was formed and thrown into space after the collapse of a star, probably the same cosmological event that created our very own solar system. Millions of years of floating in space finally put it on a collision course with Earth. It would have been quite a big and reduced dramatically in size as it burned up through the Earth's atmosphere, something most pieces of space rock fail to survive. Reaching massive temperatures then cooling as it fell through the sky and ending it's journey of Millions of years and millions of miles on your patio.
Or if that's too much to take in...
2) It was God
Looks like it might contain horse meat to me.
Worth checking to see if it was ever abused by Savile too.
