You should be able to get some honest feedback on NB, but generally you don’t. People avoid giving what is meant to be constructive criticism because some people don’t want it, and spit their dummy out when they are given it.
I’m going to start giving more detailed feedback. Instead of just saying “Very good” I’ll say “Very good, I liked the bit with the words that made me laugh. The words that didn’t make me laugh weren’t quite so good, but still added to the overall piece so were a worthwhile addition.”. And if I don’t like something, instead of ignoring it I’ll give it 1* and some abusive tags.
You should also be able to post a sub and have people suggest additions/alterations to make the writing process much more collaborative. I’m sure a lot of people have got half thought out ideas that they are struggling to finish, why not post them in the chat room and see what fellow biscuits can add to them?
Or just pad them out a bit and tag a half-arsed punchline on, you know, whatever suits you best.
I have some story ideas written down that I either haven’t got around to writing up or don’t have enough material for. I might start trying to encourage collaboration by posting one of them for people to add to and then sulk when everybody ignores it.
