Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg will make all future Coalition pronouncements in Dutch in a bid to improve his party's image.
Clegg's mother is Dutch and he has a fluent grasp of the language.
Lib Dem advisers to Clegg believe that if voters haven't a clue what he is talking about when he capitulates to Cameron's frequent shifts of policy, the less likely the Lib Dems will be damaged.
'Except for the four people in the UK who understand Dutch,' said a Lib Dem spokesman,'we'll be safe in knowing that no-one else will have a clue what the - excuse my Angle-Saxon - fuck he's on about.'
The move is expected to put further strains on the Coalition with some Tories seeing it as evidence of the Lib Dem's commitment to the EU.
'It won't make any difference to me,' said one voter. 'I don't listen to what he says anyway, in any language or none.'
It has yet to be decided if Mr Clegg will be wearing clogs.
