Looking for eye-witness accounts we spoke to Jenny Digence, 52, obviously shocked and struggling to keep her emotions in check "its tragic, such a beautiful place and such devastation" turning to her husband Bill, 56, "to think, we were in Whitehaven just 4 years ago, we think we were among the lucky ones"
Jenny and Bill have been close to danger many times. Bill, wiping away a tear "New York, 9/11. Shattering. We had just been up the very same towers in 1999, again we feel we're blessed or something to be back here now".
Bill then reached into a tattered rucksack and with some pride held out what suspiciously looked like some Lego with a swastika on one side and a hammer an sickle on the other "Berlin, 1945", Jenny interrupted "actually darling it was nearer to 8 o'clock. We got this from a young Chinese man who couldn't speak a word of German. He must have been a spy"
"We believe that God is looking after us, what with guiding us, he saved us from the Tsunami by never letting us go to Thailand you know"
Despite stepping away quickly I was followed by Bill and Jenny at some pace "I was drinking China tea when Tianenmen Square was on the telly... the Boer War, we kept pigs you know ...."
