Bank of Canada officials have defended the use of a ‘stylised’ portrait on the front of their new plastic banknotes insisting the likeness of the subject is clearly accurate enough for the use intended.
But according to some Canadian royalists the portrait of the monarch used on the front of the new bank notes is not that of Elizabeth II : Queen of the Commonwealth but is actually Australian drag artist Priscilla : Queen of the Desert
The bank note has also received criticism for failing to recognise a vending machine
When asked if he thought many Canadian people would have spotted the difference between the two Queens, Royal watcher Justin Beesley said probably not, but some would definitely have questioned the Queen’s choice of a feather boa instead of one of her crowns.

Canada’s central bank hit back by saying the portrait is deliberately designed to be non-monarch specific but is a combination of various kinds and any likeness to drag artist Mitzi del Bra is purely coincidental
