Despite a teacher being hailed as a hero for calmly talking a gunman out of a potentially serious shooting incident at a high school in Taft, California, the NRA have used the incident as another example of why they feel all teachers in the US should carry firearms.
"Sure, he talked the kid down by using reasoning and telling him there'd be no shooting in his classroom," NRA spokesman Dwayne Harris said, "But imagine if he'd been carrying a gun. He'd have been able to say stuff like 'Drop your weapon! I am authorised to use lethal force! Get down on the ground now, you goddamned piece of shit!' That would have been way cooler don't you think?"
"In fact, he could even have done that whole 'Do you feel lucky punk?' thing. Man, that would have been so awesome."
