Shocked residents of the Isle of Wight were said to be disappointed last night as the British Government finally agreed that the island should be returned to Argentinian control.
One local resident, Ernest Scoggins, who declined to be named pointed out that as far as he was aware the Isle of Wight had never been Argentinian. "I know it can't be true but it's almost as if the rest of Britain just wants rid of us" he said.
When we confronted the government with Mr Scoggins's views, a government spokesman merely said "Perish the thought" as he tried to stifle a nervous laugh.
