Fine for me. No hangover here. Celebrating the new year is like going nuts when the mileometer in your car ticks over from 99,000 to 100,000. Yes, as meaningful as that. An event based around drinking, shouting and fireworks seems both very appropriate... and very missable...

Yep - never seen the allure of 'the magic minute' as one year moves aside for the next

But DVO, that's the point when you can fire your party popper. We had an ace party, I even enjoyed the disco. Any excuse for a knees-up will do!

I had a party a couple of months ago to celebrate my car ticking over to 100,000 miles. Me and 8 friends crammed into my Vauxhall Corsa and drove up and down the road with a few beers and some party food.
Then when the moment came and the clock hit 100,000 we chucked a load of lit fireworks out of the windows.
My neighbours seem to be quite glad that I'm moving house.

Morning. Managed to stay awake past midnight just so I could share some germs with the parish ladies.
When my old Rover went around to 200,000 I did as promised and had it serviced. Waste of bloody money - nothing wrong with it.

Slightly too loud for me. Recovering from a french new year. Lots of different kinds of wine, food, and shrugging of shoulders. In the morning, as you wake up bleary eyed, you realise that lunchtime on new years day is a formal meal and you have to start again.
Would have been ok if I had slept well but I was woken up during the night by that bloody drunk Britain trying to get in the country again.

DVo and VCG - the odometer clicking over thing seems a cracking idea for a sub!
On a pathetic note, I actually find it quite exciting ... though it is usually celebrating 200,000 ks.

Beau jolly- what sort of Rover? Twice a head gasket went on me in one, well shy of 100k.
New Year with the in-laws. Modest celebrations, as expected- despite my efforts in taking the family (age range 5 to 92) for a pub lunch to get started early. Lavish fireworks purchased which I delighted in digging into the sodden garden and then raced between them to light them, in the drizzle, with a cheap lighter.
Bloody hard to run in borrowed wellies through ankle deep mud, but with the motivation of a fizzing fuse on a monstrous discount firework behind me, I managed a fair turn of pace...with cries of 'he's running, he's running' from the family announcing another imminent explosion.
Festive fun salvaged. Good times....though I was knackered from the 100m Squelch interval training.

Beau jolly- what sort of Rover?
Well it was silver.. 600 I think. It was the one that was really a good European car with a shitty Rover body where the windows fell out. Cost less than £2k and I planned to just run it until it fell to bits. Trouble is it wouldn't die. 87k when I bought it and no service until 200k although I did change the oil all over the M1 once. Finally scapped it when the clutch started to go and it failed the MOT on brakes, lights, tyres, exhaust etc.I hope you booked the pub lunch! We had so bloody many families turn up yesterday that I had to don an apron and help the cook. I even banged out 12 meals myself.
