Former Chief Whip Andrew Mitchell has chained himself to the roof of 10 Downing Street in protest at his treatment by Diplomatic Protection Police. Mitchell took to the rooftop in a Batman suit earlier today, in a tactic imitating “Fathers for Justice” campaigners. Mitchell, who pledged to stay until "liar cops" are saced was heard chanting “Free the Downing Street One” and “Stop cops lying about top Tories” to his supporters below: They both responded with cheers and claps. One of his two supporters – wife Dr Sharon Horgan – told reporters “The Birmingham Six, the Guildford Four, the Cardiff Three, the Tottenham Three – Andrew either ignored all these wronged men, or called for them to be hanged. He assumed they were just a lot of terrorists and murderers supported by lesbian communists. But since his appalling treatment by the bully boys in blue, Andrew has realised he too is a victim of injustice, and we are now campaigning for Andrew – the Downing Street One. It is vital that the Police admit that he only insulted them with the F word, not the P-word”
A spokesman for Number 10 said that the Prime Minister had every sympathy for Mitchell, but that his current position chained to the top of Number 10 was the nearest the former Chief Whip would come to getting back into Cabinet.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Bernard Hogan Howe said “I have asked the Home Office to give the Police all available tools to deal with this kind of frightening disorder. We are actively considering the use of baton rounds to bring calm to the situation
