Tony Norris from Stockport, a keen amateur chef and by day a senior trading standards officer, has expressed his delight at the prospect of using the space for all 12 place settings in his new dishwasher, as he will be joined by 11 members of his close family on Christmas Day.
'I bought the 12 place setting model especially for the big day, and I'm sure it will comfortably accommodate all the pots, pans, plates, glasses and cutlery when we have finished our three course Christmas lunch' said an excited Norris 'And I'm expecting there to be just enough space left to squeeze in the dog's bowls as well.'
Initially Norris was sceptical about the advertised capacity 'I'm sure my old dishwasher was a 12 place settings model as well, but I had to run it four times last Christmas day even though there was just the four of us, but I was probably mistaken and had inadvertently bought a one-place setting model.'
'I also noticed that according to the NHS, a 75cl bottle of wine fills six glasses, so I'll make sure that I buy two bottles so that everyone can have a good drink with their meal.'
'If I'm still sober after all that wine I'll do my usual Christmas phone-round to the family. I've just bought a new mobile, and I made sure I ordered one that advertised 18 hours of talk time so that the battery won't go flat like it did after 25 minutes last year on the one that advertised 12 hours of talk time. That particular battery must have been a dud.'
