Despite the separation in 'shampoo' and 'hair and body wash' bottles, it has been revealed that all shampoos can also be used to wash the skin of any human body.
Researchers at Abertay University have concluded that the pleasant smell given from suds of a regular shampoo can also be used to rid the body of dirt, sweat, body odour and even leave hair follicles cleaner than most 'hair and body' washers.
Lead researcher Dr Paul Carberry indicated that there was no need for hair and body washes in the current hygiene market.
"My goal for any bath or shower is to come out smelling better than I did when I went in. Last year I ran out of hair and body wash and resorted to using the suds from my basic shampoo as a make shift body wash. The results were damning to the hair and body wash suppliers, but my research does not follow business market pressure, it speaks for itself"
Dr Carberry has also revealed he will soon publish his findings of his newest research that sofa cushions are not a like for like substitute for pillows.
