An expensive study into the effects of seasonal hattage has revealed that people who wear Santa caps are 58% more likely to be ‘fun-loving’, ‘whacky’ or ‘a bit mad’.
Despite the red and white headwear being widely available to any moron with a fiver, the research showed that only the ‘zaniest’ and ‘most bonkers’ were actually brave enough to put one on. “Our findings show that using a ‘funny’ hat in this way can make the wearer really believe they’re a comedian”, explained Dr. Howard. “We’re not sure if it’s a placebo effect, or genuine comic relief.”
Dr. Howard warned would-be wearers that there are some downsides, however. “There’s some evidence that the effect only works on the person under the hat. Most observers will just think you’re a bell-end.”
Neat-O!
