Team Molina have secured the services of top trainer Angel Garcia – father of WBC strap holder Danny Garcia - ahead of Saturday's festive feud. Although Garcia appears to be in the corner only as a hand wrapper, his appearance might be enough to affect the odds-on favourite Amir Khan. The Brit's controversial defeat to Garcia was blamed on father’s alleged racist pre-fight taunts.
However, in a seasonal act of goodwill, Garcia recently contacted the Khan family to apologise for his behaviour. "That's right", confirmed Shah Khan, Amir's father. "He's sent us a nice card but we're waiting until Xmas day to open it. The box of cochinitos was a nice surprise as well."
Garcia maintains he has "never seen a Pakistani that can fight", but added "Amir's a big strong lad and handy with a broom - he can come and work at my wife's shop anytime".
