There appears to be some confusion here; A "Red Light District" is a traditional name for an urban area where female crossword enthusiasts congregate to complete the Times crossword after dark while helpful male crossword compilers drive around stopping occasionally to help out with a particularly difficult clue.

At least that's what I've been told by one who claims to know about these things.
