'On top of the £43,000 I earn from the armed services, the £200m that Kate made by selling Avon cosmetics to royal families across the world and many global celebrities was a real boost to our income. I now understand the pressure felt by ordinanry couples as they lose an income whilst bringing-up children. It's no wonder that many of them don't even have a yacht, never mind a palace or two.'
