A twenty-one year old Brighton man has shrugged off his discovery of a scratch on the back of his iPhone 5.
'I can't say I'm freaked out about it,' Brendan Bates told friends. 'One can expect to pick up same scars in life, but you have to learn to live with them.'
But contributors to Apple community forums have questioned Mr Bates' apparent indifference to the scratch, reported to be at least a cm long.
'The dude is putting a brave face on it,' said one Apple forum member. 'I lost a girlfriend when she saw I had a scratch on my iPod Shuffle and you had to look real hard to see it. Brendan wants to be careful.'
But Mr Bates insists he's unfazed by the scratch. 'I'm really not that bothered,' he said.
'For God's sake, there are surely far more important things in the world to worry about - earthquakes, AIDS - than a scratch on the back of your iPhone.'
'OK,' he added, 'I suppose it could've been a scratch on the front of my iPhone 5.'
'And that really would have been fucking devastating,' he said.
